My name is Mike Rosulek and I'm a graduate student in computer science at the University of Illinois. I have a wonderful wife and a wonderful cat. I like photography, classical guitar, a cappella music, Red Dwarf, Pink Floyd, and skim milk.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why is your site called mikero.com?
Mikero is a shortening of my name. Get it?
How is mikero pronounced?
Just like micro.
What part of computer science do you study?
Computational complexity, with an emphasis towards cryptographic applications. I essentially try to figure out how people can keep important data hidden in such a way that they can still do useful things with that data. Now just replace "useful things" with "things computer scientists find interesting."
Will you fix my computer?
The short answer: no.

The long answer: We computer science people get asked this all the time. As a theoretician, I study idealized, abstract theoretical models of computation, none of which actually exist in our universe. Needless to say, idealized means they don't run Windows. I know as much about how to fix problems in Windows as I do about how to fix problems in cars (i.e, try restarting it and hope the problem doesn't come back). Maybe I can help debug your pushdown automaton, though.
Umíš česky?
Jenom trochu.
Did you take all those pictures on the photos page?
Yes, photography is one of my vehicles for artistic self-expression. If you like any of my photos, please feel free to leave a comment or even send me an email.
What camera equipment do you use?
I have a Canon Digital Rebel (300D), and the lens that came with it (18-55mm). I still have a lot to learn before I get close to exhausting the potential of this modest equipment, so I don't need anything fancier yet. For digital processing, I use ufraw and gimp.
Why don't you post pictures more often?
Lack of (pick your favorite reason).
