On The Road To Unity

Another one from the archives. I took this picture last February. Just south of Champaign there's a rural high school called Unity HS. The roads leading up to the school are painted with "UNITY" and with little rockets (their mascot). This is a great little photo-op, and of course the possibilities for metaphor and symbolism are quite high. Unfortunately, there's generally a lot of traffic around this area and I never had any really great creative ideas on how to use the word "unity"... so we haven't really been back. At the time, I wasn't quite happy with this picture (and the others I took that day). But I had a little better luck with a B&W conversion this time and was able to salvage a pretty nice image, I think.
