Classical Guitar
Last Update: July 12, 2003
I've been playing guitar since '96, but really got into classical guitar in '99. I've been honing my chops and taking lessons on and off ever since. Sadly I don't have many clips to put here. I also regret that I'm limited to recording with a cheap computer lapel microphone, but I promise someday I will have an expensive guitar and an expensive microphone to record with.- Mallorca (Barcarolla) by Isaac Albéniz: A great mysterious Spanish tune. This is just a short and rough clip to please the masses who want to hear what I'm up to -- I have not yet learned the second half of the piece! [July 12, 2002]
- Two pieces by Bach: I put these two up on mp3.com a long time ago ('99 or '00). Although I'm not 100% nuts about them, they aren't all that bad.
For the interested, I get my tablature from here and my sheet music from here.
Doin' it A Cappella
Last Update: April ??, 2003
Contemporary a cappella music has been one of my favorite styles since becoming hooked on Rockapella in '99. I was lucky enough to be a member of Shy of a Dozen my last two years at Iowa State, a group of approximately 10±1 guys. After moving on to Illinois, I joined up with the Xtension Chords, a group of 14 crazy guys. I sing bass and occasionally even get to do some vocal percussion. However, I'm try to expand myself to the title of arranger.- Under the Bridge: I'm proud of this simple Red Hot Chili Peppers cover because it was my first arrangement for Shy of a Dozen, and a cool song. This version is volume-corrected from the original. I also added slight reverb and bass-boost, and some echo on Ben's small solo (3:07) because it amuses me. [April 2002]
- Carry On, Wayward Sun: This is an old Shy of a Dozen standard, 2003 edition. If you're not sure what I mean when I say vocal percussion, listen to this one. Hey, that's me on the drums, and it's a lot of fun! [April 2003]
